Annuities Disclosure

Annuities are long-term financial products designed primarily for retirement planning purposes. They are issued by insurance companies and are subject to the financial strength and claims-paying ability of the issuing insurer.

Annuities may include fees, expenses, charges, and limitations, including but not limited to administrative fees, mortality and expense charges, investment management fees for variable annuities, rider costs, and surrender charges. Surrender charges may apply if funds are withdrawn during the surrender period.

Withdrawals from annuities may be subject to income taxes and, if taken prior to age 59½, may be subject to an additional 10% federal tax penalty. Guarantees are based solely on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company and are not backed by any bank, government agency, or the FDIC.

Fixed annuities may offer a stated rate of return or formula-based interest crediting. Fixed indexed annuities are not directly invested in the stock market or any external index. Interest crediting may be linked to the performance of an external index and may be subject to caps, participation rates, spreads, crediting methods, and other limitations that can affect the amount of interest credited.

Variable annuities involve investment risk, including possible loss of principal, and their value will fluctuate based on the performance of the underlying investment options. Variable annuities may be subject to additional regulatory requirements, prospectus delivery, fees, and suitability standards.

Optional riders, such as income benefits, enhanced death benefits, or withdrawal guarantees, may be available for an additional cost and may include specific terms, conditions, restrictions, and limitations.

Indexed Universal Life Insurance Disclosure

Indexed Universal Life Insurance, commonly referred to as IUL, is a type of permanent life insurance that provides a death benefit and may also accumulate cash value over time. Cash value growth may be linked in part to the performance of one or more external market indexes, subject to policy terms, caps, participation rates, spreads, floors, charges, and other limitations.

IUL policies are not direct investments in the stock market or in any index. Policyholders do not participate directly in market gains, dividends, or index ownership. Index-linked interest, when credited, is determined according to the insurance carrier’s policy provisions and crediting methodology.

Premium payments, cost of insurance charges, administrative fees, policy expenses, rider costs, loans, withdrawals, and changes in interest crediting can affect the policy’s cash value, death benefit, and long-term performance. If a policy is not properly funded or if policy charges exceed available cash value, the policy may lapse.

Policy loans and withdrawals may reduce the policy’s cash value and death benefit and may have tax consequences. Loans are generally not taxable if the policy remains in force and is not classified as a Modified Endowment Contract, but tax treatment depends on individual circumstances. If a policy lapses, is surrendered, or becomes a Modified Endowment Contract, loans or withdrawals may become taxable and may also be subject to an additional 10% federal tax penalty if taken before age 59½.

Life insurance illustrations are hypothetical and are based on assumptions that may change over time. Non-guaranteed values are not guaranteed, and actual policy performance may be higher or lower than illustrated. Policy guarantees are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. NAIC guidance notes that universal life illustrations can include both guaranteed and non-guaranteed values, and non-guaranteed elements may change over time.

IUL is designed primarily as life insurance protection with potential cash value accumulation. It should not be presented as a bank account, investment account, guaranteed retirement income plan, or direct stock market investment.
